AltAss Ratings (On a scale of 1 to 5 asses)
Plot:
Does not waste time on boring character development or flash backs but jumps right in where Kevorkian began to become well known throughout the country which is a fantastic story much of which went untold in the major media outlets.
Writing:
Gets the balance just right between informing and entertaining which keeps the story interesting and audiences engrossed.
Acting:
Pacino is phenomenal and the real Dr. Kevorkian said he couldn't believe that it wasn't actually himself on the screen. All the other supporting players are very good, but Pacino is the star of the show and leaves no question of that from start to finish.
Originality:
The biodrama has been done many times with varying degrees of success but what gives this one an edge is the issue that it deals with. Other than abortion there are not many topics nearly as polarizing as assisted suicide and film makers don't like to make films that are guaranteed to be hated by about 50% of the population.
Overall:
I found every aspect of this film very inspiring and entertaining which is due in part to the fact that I grew up in Michigan during the time that this movie takes place and before I realized that the news on TV wasn't anywhere near an accurate depiction of reality. If you are dead set against assisted suicide and Jack Kevorkian, this is not for you but everyone else should enjoy it.
